𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬? not all foundations will be best suited for your skin type i.e. dry, oily, combo, etc. if you're a makeup enthusiast or a makeup artist, i'm sure you've heard of the new @makeupbymario surreal skin liquid foundation. this foundation has fantastic reviews and i'm confident is probably one of the best foundations of 2023 (i know, bold statement). however, there has been a lot of speculation around it's formula and finish. this foundation is definitely more on the hydrating side, focusing mostly on luminosity. therefore, if you have combo to oily skin, i don't really recommend this foundation for you as, by the end of the day, your skin will most likely be more oily. whereas, if your skin is more dry, i think it would be best suited for you 🙌🏼 the point here is that although the foundation can be spectacular and suit certain individuals, it does not mean that all foundations will be best suited for 𝘆𝗼𝘂. ▫️ ᴠᴇʀꜱᴜꜱ 🆚 ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ ▫️ i want to deep-dive into makeup + skincare cult-favourites and compare two very popular products to see which one is best suited for you ✨ this time, we're doing a deep dive on lip tints + stains, specifically.. ꜰᴇɴᴛʏ ᴠꜱ ᴄʜᴀʀʟᴏᴛᴛᴇ ᴛɪʟʙᴜʀʏ @fentybeauty came into the makeup game ꜱᴛʀᴏɴɢ and definitely did not let us down! this is especially the case when it comes to this lip stain. when it launched, it was sold out for a very long time and for good reason. it's just that good + long-lasting. this formula is very much bleed-resistant and does not budge for hours on end. if what you're looking for is a lip stain that can last all day or all night, this is meant for you 💕 on the other hand, there's always the tried and true @charlottetilbury products, specifically, the tinted love lip & cheek stain that is very powerful as well. Yet, I would say the purpose is more versatile compared to fenty. the biggest difference between the two is that the fenty lip stain is definitely more powerful in pigment and long-lasting; whereas, with charlotte tilbury's cheek and lip tint, it's just that - a lip and cheek tint, not a stain. with charlotte tilbury's product, you can use it on either your lips or cheeks and it's a flush of colour. the fenty is more meant for your lips only. whichever one you choose to use is entirely based on your preference and what you intend to do with the product. how to stop my undereyes from creasing #𝟭 - 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘂𝗽 there are a lot of people that think that makeup can quickly solve their creasing issue; however, this is a misconception. skincare prep prior to applying your makeup is actually the solution to your creasing. if you've noticed more fine lines + wrinkles on your undereyes, i highly suggest applying a hydrating eye cream at night and in the morning to ensure that area stays hydrated throughout the day. another big recommendation is undereye patches that can be infused with energizing and brightening properties such as caffeine and/or hyaluronic acid. #𝟮 - 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 during the makeup certification classes i've taught, i always mention that the less amount of layers of makeup, the more natural and smooth the makeup will apply and sit. if you find that your undereyes consistently crease, it's super important to minimize the amount of product that you're using on your undereyes. additionally, if you place concealer on the outer area of the eyes and drag it towards your temples, this can lift the face to create a more elevated and youthful appearance. #𝟯 - 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 & 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 the one thing i find that is constantly missed is setting the undereyes. even if you have dry skin and/or fine lines + wrinkles on your undereyes, setting the area is a necessity. This can be with a very finely-milled powder or even better a mineralized pressed powder. be very intentional with how much product you are using and ensure there are no creases in the concealer prior to applying the powder. this will ensure the undereye area is creaseless and smooth. #𝟰 - 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 last and most certainly the most important is hydration. not only do we need hydration to come from the skin products we apply prior to makeup; hydration literally needs to come from our water intake as well. we often forget to drink water, but this immensely affects the way our skin looks as well. if you start to incorporate more water into your daily routine, i guarantee you will notice huge differences! let me know if these tips help you! ✨🤍

▫️ ᴠᴇʀꜱᴜꜱ 🆚 ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ ▫️ in this new series, i want to deep-dive into makeup + skincare cult-favourites and compare two very popular products to see which one is best suited for you ✨ this time, we're doing a deep dive on translucent powders, specifically.. ʟᴀᴜʀᴀ ᴍᴇʀᴄɪᴇʀ ᴠꜱ ʜᴏᴜʀɢʟᴀꜱꜱ first and foremost, if you're familiar with makeup, you would know that most, if not all, beauty enthusiasts 🤍 @lauramercier 's translucent powder. It truly is a highly effective powder that can be used for any skin tone and texture. however, there's a new powder that has blown away the beauty enthusiasts with how beautiful + flawless it applies on the skin. top 3 reasons why you might be breaking out #𝟭 - 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 if you've been using the same pillow case for more than a couple of weeks, they can continuously develop a build-up of oil, dirt + sebum gathered from your skin, your hair, + even the surrounding environment. that dirty stuff then gets transferred back onto your skin every time you sleep, leading to clogged pores, acne breakouts + blemishes. #𝟮 - 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 more research needs to be done on this specific reason, however, it seems as though high glycemic foods can cause + make acne worse. these foods are often highly processed + may cause blood sugar levels to rise quickly. such foods include baked goods, sugary drinks, potatoes + fries, etc. therefore, when your blood sugar levels increase due to consuming these foods + drinks, your body will then produce more insulin. in turn, increased insulin increases the production of sebum. all the oil within sebum can then overwhelm the pores and can result in acne. #𝟯 - 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 stress has been linked to an increase in acne severity. when our bodies are stressed out, we release a corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH). CRH then triggers the release of inflammatory cytokines + promotes the production of oil. excess oil can then clog pores + when combined with inflammation can lead to more breakouts. my biggest recommendation to help with acne immediately is two-fold: drinking more water 💦 + managing stress 💆🏻‍♀️ if you're able to, go on a long walk to decompress if you are stressed + make sure to bring some water with you to stay hydrated! 🏃🏻‍♀️
